Librarian 1 (Children's Services Librarian)
City of Winnipeg Community Services Department

The City of Winnipeg Community Services Department invites applications for a Librarian I. Under the direction of the Administrative Coordinator of Community Based Library Services, the Librarian I is responsible for the development and provision of information/reference services for Children and Young Adults, and Adults working with children; plans, co-ordinates and conductsregular book-related programmes for children; planning and scheduling work; training and supervising staff; maintaining and developing the collections; promoting library services and materials; and participating in Committee meetings and workshops.

Salary ranges $1,580.02 to $1,846.79 biweekly with a comprehensive benefits package.

Education and Experience Required:

1. Graduation from an accredited School of Library Science (B.L.S. or M.L.S.).
2. Ability to deal effectively with children and adults in a public library setting.
3. Good knowledge of and demonstrated interest in children’s literature.
4. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
5. Good planning and organizational skills and previous library experience are also required.
6. Ability to effectively supervise staff.
7. Ability to work in both Canadian official languages an asset.
8. A valid Drivers Licence and accessibility to a car an asset.
