Duties:

The Library at Red River College has a position for a full-time Cataloguing / Acquisitions Technician in the Technical Services department. The responsibilities of the position include the creation of MARC bibliographic records, MARC subject and name authorities, and purchase orders; receiving, processing and claiming library materials; and, invoicing vendors and publishers. Some public service duties in circulation and reference are required, as well as some collection development duties.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a 2-year post-secondary library technician diploma and must have a minimum of 3 years fulltime experience, post-diploma, doing cataloguing in an integrated library system environment. Familiarity with LCSH and the LC classification system is essential. Some experience with the processing of library acquisitions is also essential. Familiarity with the Voyager system is highly desirable as is experience in performing reference and circulation tasks. A high degree of computer literacy is essential, including familiarity with the MSOffice suite of applications.

Candidates must demonstrate their ability to perform detailed work both accurately and in a timely fashion. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to function well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
