| The Position: Keewatin Community College is seeking a Library Technician at The Pas Campus. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all serials issues, monographs, and other media for the Library and its satellite Libraries are received and processed, and accurate records maintained in an automated system. The incumbent will also route library materials within and across various campuses and have shared responsibility for ILL. The incumbent is responsible for copy and some original cataloguing. Other duties primarily involving routine functions include: circulation, shelving, perform telephone and/or counter reference duties; perform routine clerical duties involved in entering, checking, and sorting various library records. Evening and weekend work will be required. Qualifications: A Library Technician Certificate or a Library Technician Diploma from an accredited College is required, however, an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Cataloguing experience is necessary. Knowledge of periodicals, AACR2r, MARC records, and LCSH are essential as is experience with microcomputers (word processing, e-mail, searching on the internet). Advanced keyboarding skills are required. Experience with automated systems, including online Library systems is required; knowledge of Innopac or similar will be an asset. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply automated and manual procedures is essential. The incumbent will be expected to work both in a team environment and independently, and have the ability to set priorities. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The individual must be physically capable of performing the duties, which may include moderate lifting. Personal experience, understand and/or knowledge of the Aboriginal culture will be considered an asset, as is the ability to speak an Aboriginal language. Salary: $17.14 to $22.20 hourly (depending on qualifications), plus remoteness allowance.
