Library Technician
Winnipeg, Manitoba

Permanent full time position.

The position is located within the following governmental organization(s): Department of National Defence.

Salary: $37,744 to $43,901 per annum.

Language: English essential.

Work Environment:

This position is located at Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Studies, 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Challenge:

Provides technical and information services in one or more library science discipline; cataloguing bibliographic records, circulation services, acquisition of print, non-print and electronic information resources and document delivery services to departmental staff and external clients. Maintenance of the library sub-system databases including acquisitions, circulation, interlibrary loans and serials and shares maintenance of other sub-system databases. Develops system changes within the system parameters and programs the changes for each sub-system. Develops procedures for and manages a library sub-section including acquisitions, circulation, copyright, interlibrary loans and/or serials. Catalogues and classifies print and electronic material.

Education:

Successful completion of two years of post-secondary education with acceptable specialization in library technology or library and information science OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, including the successful completion of two years post-secondary education.

Experience:

Significant recent experience performing Interlibrary Loans, Serials Control OR Acquisitions duties in an academic or special library environment specialized in electronic information retrieval. "Significant" is defined as ongoing (continuous) over an extended (considerable) period of time, and not simply performing the duties for short periods of time (intermittent).
