A Canadian law firm, located in Winnipeg, has an exciting opportunity for
a Librarian who has strong computer applications development skills. The
position involves continuing the build-out of a leading edge Knowledge
Centre using the latest IT applications development tools while being
responsible for overall administration of the Library, including planning,
budgeting, collection development and information services delivery.
Qualifications::
- M.L.I.S. and an undergraduate degree in a technology-oriented
discipline such as Computer Science.
- Strong computer applications development skills, including previous
experience with applications development using database management tools.
Experience in web site development and maintenance using Inmagic products
and web authoring tools.
- Self-directed; able to work without direct supervision, organize
priorities and problem-solve effectively.
- Excellent reference, Internet, Intranet and database searching
skills.
Key Responsibilities::
- Develop new research databases, knowledge databases and classified
Internet resources. Maintain the overall operation of all existing
databases and Internet resources created using Inmagic=s DB/TextWorks and
WebPublisher.
- Provide computerized and manual legal reference service to
lawyers.
- Provide specialized reference and instruction services.
- Collection development.
- Budget planning.
- Supervise Library staff.
- Continuously searching for opportunities to improve library
service to users.
