| The University of Manitoba Libraries invites applications for a full-time probationary Medical Rehabilitation/Allied Health Librarian. This position provides a unique opportunity to participate in reference, liaison, education, and collection development to meet the information needs of faculty, students and staff of the School of Medical Rehabilitation. Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of the of the NJMHSL the incumbent is responsible for the following: Liaison: To act as the primary liaison with the School of Medical Rehabilitation including sections of Occupational Therapy (MOT), Physical Therapy (BMR(PT), Respiratory Therapy (BMR(RT)and Rehabilitation (MSc(Rehab) and the coordinator for the proposed Allied Health Sciences programs (Radiation Therapy, Medical Imaging Technology, Diagnostic Cytology and Medical Laboratory). To act as the liaison for Bannatyne Campus persons with disabilities using the NJMHSL. Collections: To build a library collection in support of theMedical Rehabilitation and Allied Health degree program in the areas of occupational therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiation therapy, medical imaging technology, diagnostic cytology and medical laboratory science. To prepare an annual acquisitions budget for the purchase of material to support these activities. Education: To develop and maintain an understanding of theresearch and teaching programs of the School of Medical Rehabilitation. To co-ordinate and develop instructional programs for the School of Medical Rehabilitation degree programs. To plan and develop web-based resources to meet the learning, informatics and technology needs of the School of Medical Rehabilitation. To participate in the orientation and education programs of the NJMHSL by providing individual and small group instruction as required. Reference Service: To meet the information needs of students,faculty researchers, clinical practitioners in the School of Medical Rehabilitation by providing reference and literature search services as required. To participate in the education, reference, outreach services and collection development programs of the Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library, and in the planning and development of programs and systems in support of the Library's strategic and operational goals. Qualifications: A degree from an ALA-accredited library program and 2 to 3 years experience in health sciences librarianship or hospital librarianship are desired. Familiarity with reference services, bibliographic instruction and collection development are required. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement new programs and services and demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative and integrated environment are required. Knowledge of and experience with computing technology, database searching, the Internet and reference services are required. Experience with marketing is an asset. Must be dynamic, highly motivated and self-directed, and have the ability to work independently as well as with a team. Demonstrated high level of creativity, motivation, initiative and responsibility. Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills are required to work successfully with faculty, students and staff in a variety of situations. The successful candidate should engage in an active program of scholarship and research and should have a commitment to the continuing development of professional knowledge and skills.
