Division: OCLC Preservation Service Center - Winnipeg

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Responsibilities

- Incumbent must be able to perform the basic functions from Bib Check to file delivery with minimal supervision in order to meet production standards and meet the goals and deadline of the Digital Department.

- Must be able to navigate the Windows 2000 server, create, name and move files and directories as required, operate basic computer programs such as PixView or TIFF View for image inspection and evaluation.

- Must be adept at handling microfilm without damage, operate a microfilm reader and inspect microfilm for bibliographic content prior to scanning.

- Able to understand the basic mechanics and functions of all appropriate capture devices and other digital equipment in the department.

- Must perform QA inspection of images and record information on appropriate forms or in computer.

- Able to follow written project instructions and specifications with minimal supervision after completing training period.

- Basic understanding of the uses of software such as Scanfix, Image Alchemy, Debabelizer, Photoshop, etc. Able to use Photoshop for touching-up images.

Requirements

- High School diploma and related work experience.

- Previous photographic, digital or computer graphics preferred.

- Computer literate with experience in Windows 2000, NT or Windows 95 preferred.

- Detail oriented with the ability to maintain concentration in a repetitive work environment.

- Good oral and written communication skills. Legible handwriting.

- Willingness to work flexible/overtime hours as required and ability to work as part of a team.

- Ability to sit in a stationary position for 2 hours.
