SALARY RANGE: $39,226 to $48,758 per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Legislative Library is seeking an innovative and service-oriented librarian to catalogue publications in print and electronic formats. The successful candidate will have a MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited post-secondary institution or acceptable equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience. Recent cataloguing experience in an integrated library system environment is required, while work in other aspects of library operations is desirable. Experience in using web-based tools (e.g. metadata application, HTML, XML, web page development) and demonstrated ability with Internet searching and MS Office tools are required. The following skills will be assets in this position: ability to work in a collaborative team environment; to guide and revise the work of others; to plan and organize work effectively and meet deadlines; and to identify opportunities to improve workflow and service. Good interpersonal and oral/written communications skills and reading comprehension of French are desirable.

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Head, Government Publications and Library Systems, the Cataloguer/Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for original and derived cataloguing of all print and electronic publication formats in the Library’s integrated system according to national and international standards. The candidate performs quality control of the database and provides access to web-based resources through the Library’s integrated system in a collaborative environment. Responsible for guiding and revising the work of other staff.
