Brandon University is a leader in providing high quality education to over
3,000 full- and part-time students in arts, sciences, education, music,
and health studies. Based in southwestern Manitoba, Brandon University
also offers pre-professional and Masters programs, as well as innovative
and award-winning outreach programs in a personalized learning
environment. Applications are invited for a tenure-track position as a cataloguer. We are seeking an innovative, dynamic professional, who is keen to work in a small academic library as an integral part of a team. The successful candidate will perform original and complex cataloguing of all formats and in all languages; maintain the integrity and consistency of the cataloguing records; establish cataloguing policies and procedures, and serve on library and campus-wide committees. This position requires a Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited school with cataloguing course work beyond the basic level; demonstrated knowledge of current cataloguing rules and standards, including AACR2 rev, LCSH, and MARC formats, and LC classification system; experience with an Integrated Library System; awareness of issues and trends in cataloguing; ability to take responsibility for problem identification, analysis and resolution; excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills; familiarity with Windows based software such as Microsoft Office, ability to work both independently and collegially in a demanding and rapidly changing environment and an interest in participating in professional activities. Cataloguing or related experience in an academic library preferred. Rank and salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
